Hi! Thanks for the article! I’ve read it twice, but I still can’t figure out what your favorite BI tool is. Could you clarify what I might be missing? Thanks!

I don't have a "favorite" from this list. I guess I have to develop one. Want to help? ;)

Absolutely! If I can contribute, count me in! We need one great BI tool that has been missing for decades!

Omni pricing is 15K for 10 users to start off and discounts are pretty decent as you scale

Hi Aman, we're currently almost at the final stage of our BI tool research. On trials with Omni, so far so good! I'm curious on your experience during the solution implementation stage and if there any hiccups you found out only later?

We use Sigma at my company, most of our end users don't understand SQL and have never used other BI tools, and many non-technical users have been able to build dashboards without help from our analytics team or developers.

What about Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) ... "Legacy" BI with inbuilt/supported semantic layer functionality.

Also feel that requirements like giving more weightage to Summer Months (when present as an attribute/col in dataset) is something that ought to happen on the modelling/database side and not in the Viz Tool. Unless the requirement is also to use the UI to define/demarcate "Summer Months" dynamically via user actions... i.e. user chooses whether its "mar to jun" or "apr to aug" etc.

Oracle has many truly excellent, underrated products. They also addressed the challenge of bulk loading event streams a long time ago and offered their version of a Customer Data Platform before companies like Segment or Hightouch did. They excel in some data quality solutions.

The challenge with Oracle is that you are at the mercy of their suite and the associated costs, which only certain enterprises can afford.

If you’re using dbt, LightDash is great. Completing a migration from PowerBI to LightDash now, and was involved in a migration from Tableau to it last year. Smiles on the data team and business side. But generally, agree with your findings after comparing a bunch of these internally!

Is there a reason why Qliksense did not make this list?

Olga Berezovsky's avatar

No reason! Just don't know anyone who is using this tool.

Do you like it?
